prologue

It was a warm, breezy evening. The dark sky was filled with dozens of stars that shined like diamonds to accompany the lonely dark night sky. Sitting outside, on a porch, a young boy, at around the age of 4. The little boy was wearing his blue pyjamas and had a two brown slippers on. He also had a red blanket wrapped around his shoulders too keep him warm from the breeze of the night. The young boy just sat and watched quietly as his bluish green eyes watched the stars with such fascination. How he loved watching each star glitters differently.

But he wasn’t alone for long. As he was being fascinated by the stars, a tall woman, who wore a cream dressing gown with slippers to match, spotted the little boy sitting outside on the porch on his own. She quietly opened the door and peeped her head outside into the breeze. “Robin, what are you doing up at this time of night? I thought I tucked you into bed about an hour ago.” The mother asked in little annoyance and surprised way. The young boy looked over his shoulder at his mother. “But I don’t feel sleepy and the sky is so clear tonight, look.” The boy then pointed his finger at the starry sky. The boys mother only sighed and sat next to him on the porch. “Wens dad ganna be home?” The little boy asked his mother who gave a little smile as she breath some of the air in. “Not until tomorrow night Rob. But Don’t worry, we’ll still have fun tomorrow.” The little boy then looked down on the wooden porch floor. “That’s what dad calls me. Rob. What does he call you?” The little boy’s mother chuckled before answering. “Well, let me think…..there’s Melrose’s, my full name, or there is Mel for short.”

“What about Melly?” The little boy giggled at his joke. Melrose just gave another chuckle. “Well….I haven’t been called that since I was a young girl.” She then gave a sigh for she began to remember what fun she had when she was kid. The little boy looked up as his mother. “Mum?” He asked. Melrose snapped out of her thoughts and paid attention towards her son. “Yes dear, what is it?”

“Why am I called Robin?” The little boy asked with curiosity written all over his face. Melrose smiled and lifted the young boy on his lap so they could cuddle each other. “Well, when you were born, you and your father though it would be a lovely name for you. And whenever you are playing football with your dad, you just remind us as a robin who spreads his wings.” Robin looked up as his mother in a not too pleased way. “That sounds girlish mum.” He gave a slight moan. Melrose just chuckled quietly and looked out at the stars. “Well, you should be proud of what name you are given. That is what my grandfather use to tell me when I was around your age.” Melrose began to gently stroke Robin’s short brown hair. Robin continued to watch the stars. “Where is he now?”

Melrose gave a little smile and looked down at her son. “He’s probably sitting on a cloud and watching over us from heaven.” Melrose then felt a tear come through her left eye. She immediately wiped the tear away. Robin noticed as she moved one of her arms that was wrapped around him in a hug form. “Wats wrong mum?” He asked with a little concern on his face. For a child his age, it was often unlikely to see his mother cry. Melrose looked at her son with a little fake smile. “Nothing dear, it’s just some dust that’s blown into my eye.” Robin then felt a yawn come over him as he rubbed one of his eyes. Melrose noticed this. “Come on now, bed time for you Mr.” She stood up as Robin did as well. They both then held hands and made their way inside the house. Robin gave one more glance at the stars before the porch door was closed.

Chapter 1
Meeting a friend

6 YEARS LATER……………

It was an early summers morning. Melrose was already up and cooking breakfast in the kitchen. “Robin, breakfast.” She called out as she was frying a couple of eggs on a frying pan. But Melrose didn’t get any response, so she called again. “Robin, your breakfast is going to get cold.” But there was still no response. Once she placed the eggs onto a plate, she headed down the hallway until she reached Robin’s bedroom door that had a his name crafted into it with a picture of a robin on it. “Robin…”. She knocked on the door a couple of times. But there was still no response. That did it for Melrose and so she opened his door and peeked into his room. “Robin, I…”. But she saw that Robin wasn’t there and that his bedroom window was left opened. Melrose gave a sigh. “Oh Robin, not again.” She spoke quietly as she sat on his bed.

Meanwhile…….

Robin was down at the river in the middle of the woods since it was one of his favourite spots. Robin was now 10 years old and had longish hair grown out a little. He was also seemed to be a little tall for a 10 year old as well, but that didn’t bother him one bit. Robin stood by the side of the river as he took out his binoculars and used them to take a gaze at the sky for any wild life. He then saw a robin fly acroos from his sight. Robin immediately followed the sight of the robin as it flew towards a nest that was hidden in he trees, not to far from him.

Robin watched carefully as he saw that in the next was another adult robin and a few baby ones that looked like they just hatched. Robin gave a sigh and put his binoculars away. He then picked up his back pack and began to make his way further up the river. As he went further up, the river where he walked by became more deeper and rougher that it would be dangerous for any young kid to fall into. It Didn’t take long for Robin to reach a dead end of a cliff side. Robin stopped and looked around to see if there was any where else to go to. He then noticed that there was a large, thick log that went across the deep, rushing river. With no other option, then either to turn back, Robin decided to take that chance and began to climb some of the rocks where the thick log was supported. Just then, he heard a twig snap. He immediately stopped and looked in the direction of where the sounds was coming from. He knew there were a bunch of wild animals that lived in the forest, but non that were far too dangerous. Robin eyed the direction and saw that there was nothing there, well…at least what his eyes told him.

Robin decided to continue making his way onto the big rocks and slowly making his way onto the large, thick tree branch. Robin had been climbing trees and logs many times before so to him, it was no different. He was slowly making his way, carefully across the large log when he suddenly had a feeling that he was being watched by something. He stopped and turned around to see in shock, standing on one of the rocks on one side of the river, stood a dragon. But this dragon wasn’t tall and big like the ones he had seen in books, but it was small compared to them and would only reach up to about Robin’s waist.

Robin just stopped and stood still on the log as he widened his eyes in fear of the little dragon stood and watched Robin simply curious. The little dragon had purple scales with a blue tip of the tail and had blue spikes. Her eyes were also blue as well. The little dragon also had wings that were in the form of bat wings. The little dragon began to slowly approach Robin, but that only resulted in making him more afraid of the little dragon. “St…stay back.” Robin tried to act a little brave, but couldn’t his fear. But the little dragon didn’t stop and began to come closer towards the log. Robin was now becoming more scared that the dragon would pounce on him and eat him. But then, he remembered that he had a pocket knife on him. He began to reach down in his pocket as the little dragon began to place it’s two front paws onto the log. Robin felt his fear rise up even more as he desperately searched his pocket for his knife. He then eventually found his pocket knife pointed it at the little dragon who immediately stopped and stared at Robin with a little shock on it’s face. “Stay back…..I mean it.” Once again, Robin tried to sound like he was acting brave, but his voice still sounded shakily. The little dragon began to move backwards towards the rocks where one end of the log was being supported. Robin then knew that it must be working.

But just then, Robin felt himself loose balance on the log and he screamed as he felt himself falling into the cold, rushing water. The next thing he knew, he was being carried down by the rushing river as he struggled to breath for air. “Help…….someone……help.” He only managed to cough out as he kept being dowsed by the force of the river. As Robin felt himself being more pulled into the deepness of the river, he managed to see something in the sky that was flying towards him. Robin found it difficult to see what form it was for he was struggling to keep his head above the water, but then he began to realise that it was a shape of a little dragon. Robin screamed as he tried to called for help. “Someone…..please help me.” He only managed to blurt out until he felt his whole body get pushed by the force under deep, thick water. Robin now found himself at a more dangerous point where he would drown from running out of air. But he felt too tired from all the attempting to swim out of the river and decided that this would be the end for him. But just as he was a the verge of giving up, he saw something dive into the river and headed towards him. It was hard to see in the river because it was very dark. But whatever the figure was, it grabbed Robin’s backpack he was wearing and began to pull it, as it was attached to Robin until it managed to swoop him out of the water and flied towards some land nearby, carrying Robin. Robin felt himself being carried in the air by whatever the figure was, but decided not to open his eyes for he felt very afraid and tired. It Didn’t take long until Robin felt himself being lowered onto the ground that was covered in grass. Robin managed to cough out some of the water that had been stuck in his throat and rubbed his eyes before opening them.

Once they were opened, he was standing in front of him, the little dragon. “Agh”. He screamed as he leaned against a rock that he sat against. The little dragon gave a confused look. “Why are you screaming for?” The dragon began to speak in a girly, calm voice. Robin then stopped and stared at the dragon in shock as his eyes widened. “You….you can talk?” He asked in a more shakily voice.

“Yeah, I can talk, what about you, besides screaming?” She replied back in an annoyed way. Robin wasn’t sure how to reply to that, but he decided that maybe it would be best to move on the subject. “Eh….so….you’re a dragon?” He asked since he wanted to make sure. The little dragon gave him a sigh in a more annoyed way. “Yes im a dragon, what else do you think I am? An over grown lizard with wings?”

“Im sorry, it’s just….I never met a dragon before and…..I didn’t know dragons could talk.” He looked curiously at the little dragon. He then had another question now that he was beginning to feel comfortable with the little dragon. “Whats your name?” He asked her.

The little dragon began to lie down. “My mother calls me by Sabrina, what does your mother call you?” She asked at she eyes Robin with her sparkling blue lizard eyes. Robin gave a little smile. “Im Robin”. He replied. The little dragon lifted her head up. “Robin huh? Like those little birds with their red bellies?” She asked as Robin felt himself blush a little. “Eh….yeah I guess so.” He began to rub the back of his head.

He then remembered that he fell into the river because of her showing up. “Hey…..wait…why were you following me across the log back there?” He asked. Sabrina then remembered him pointing a knife at her and she immediately stood up. “Why were you pointing a sharp object and yelling a me?” She asked back. Robin thought about it for a minute before answering. “Well….I guess you gave me a scare, I mean, I never seen a dragon before. But why were you following me across the log?” She asked her.

Sabrina felt a little embarrassed as she tried to explain. “Well….I…eh….I wanted to…erm….”. She was finding it hard to answer as Robin listen carefully. Sabrina then gave a sigh before answering. “I wanted to play with someone.” She managed to say before looking away from Robin. Robin just smiled and walked up towards the little dragon and placed his hand carefully on her scaly shoulder. “I know how you feel.” He told her. Sabrina looked up at Robin in a puzzled way.

“How could you know? Your not some scary dragon who always scares away people and finds it hard to fit in somewhere.” She replied in a saddened way. Robin then felt his smile disappear. “Well, I may not be a dragon, but…..I am pretty lonely.”

Sabrina looked up at Robin in a surprised way. “Really? You’re lonely? But….how, I mean, there are so many of you humans and you seem to fit in perfect with them.” She asked Robin. Robin gave a sigh and began to walk towards the river. He bent down and picked up a few stones that were on the ground next to him. “Well, where I live is far out from the city and there really isn’t many people around from where I live.” He began to explain as he threw one stone into the river. Sabrina looked over her shoulder at Robin.

“But what about your mother and father? Aren’t they around?” She asked as Robin threw another stone into the river. Robin gave another sigh. “Well, my mother is around now and then, but she’s someone who would climb trees with me and she’s often too busy cooking a cleaning the house. Dad….well, he’s a footballer and he often has to go away to another match. So I get less time with him.” Robin then threw another stone into the river hard making it drown instantly. He then looked over at Sabrina. “What about your parents?” He asked her.

Sabrina looked down to the ground in a sad way. “Well…my father left me when I was just an egg, my mother….she disappeared one day.” She told Robin in a saddened way. Robin walked up to Sabrina. “Im sorry.” He replied to her.

Robin then realised that how lonely she truly must be without any family nor friends while Sabrina began to realise that they both may seem different, yet have something in common. That’s when they both had the same idea. They bother looked at each other with a glitter of light in their eyes. “Do you wanna be friends?” They both asked at the same time towards each other.

Robin and Sabrina then smiled at each other. They both knew that this could be the start of a something great, not knowing that something much greater will come soon.

Chapter 2
Memories and Discoveries

Melrose was sat at her desk in her study. She was looking through some of her old letters which she had been keeping for a very long time. As she took out an old letter, she looked a framed photograph that was kept in her draw or herself as a young girl with another young girl with blond hair and green eyes. Melrose then turned to the letter and began read it. She then felt a tear come through her eye before wiping it away. How many memories she had with her friends.

She then remembered something and left the desk with the letter still opened. She went into her bedroom and bent down so she could reach for something under the bed. She then pulled out a large box that had some Japanese ascriptions on the lid. Melrose opened the box carefully that revealed an object that was wrapped in some white cloth. Melrose began to carefully lift the wrapped object out of the box and stared down at it. She then remembered something she told a long time ago.

Flashback……..

12 year old Melrose was studying in her book until she heard fire engines going off. She ran over to the window and saw in her horror, Shugazoom was on fire. She was about to head out of the door until someone called her. “Melrose.”

Melrose looked around to see it was her grandfather who stood in the hallway with a wrapped object I his hands. “Before you go, I must give you something,” He told her calmly. Melrose knew that Shugazoom was in danger, but decided to wait a few seconds. “What is it granddad?” She asked as she walked towards him.

Once she was close enough, her grandfather unwrapped the object to reveal a sword. Melrose couldn’t believe it. Did he really want to give away his own weapon? “Granddad…it’s your sword.” she replied in a surprised way. Her grandfather smiled and placed the sword in her hands. “And now it is yours, for every warrior need a weapon to fight with, but that is not the only weapon a true warrior has.” Melrose looked at the sword as she held it carefully and then looked at her granddad. “What weapon is it granddad?” She asked curiously. Her granddad smiled and bent down and looked in her eyes.

“The most powerful thing……A true heart.”

End of flashback.
………………………………..............................................................

Meanwhile, Robin and Sabrina were still in the same spot where they had introduced each other. Robin was climbing a tree while Sabrina watched curiously from the bottom. “What are you doing?” She asked him. Robin stopped climbing and looked down. “Im just climbing up to see if I could get a good view of where I…we are.” He replied to her before continuing climbing up the tree. Sabrina just shrugged and began to flap her little wings and headed up to where Robin was in the tree. Robin looked at Sabrina with a little smirk. “Show off.” He muttered at her. Sabrina gave him a confused look. “What?!” She asked her. Robin shook his head. “Never mind.” He only replied to her.

Once Robin had reached the top, he saw the whole view of the forest and that he was far away then he expected. “Whoa, that river must have carried me fast. Im so far away from home, I wouldn’t make it back home till dark. And mum will start worrying about me.” She looked down a little sadly. Sabrina felt a little sorry for Robin and then came up with an idea. “Hey, how about I fly you home?” She told him. Robin looked at Sabrina with a not-too-sure look. “That’s a good idea but…I donno if Im ready for all this flying.”

Robin then began to climb down, but just then, his foot slipped witch made him loose his balance and he screamed as he began plummeting towards the ground which was very low from the top of the tree. Sabrina wasted no time and flet at high speed towards the falling child and flew under him so that he landed on her back. Robin had is eyes tightly shut for he wait awaiting a painful impact, but instead, he felt he was on something light and wind rushing in his hair. He opened his eyes to see he was now on the back of a flying baby dragon in mid air.

“Are you ok? You should be more careful with how you walk and climb.” Sabrina spoke as she looked over her shoulders at Robin. Robin only gave a little nod as he sat on Sabrina’s back. He then looked over the edge to see that they were very high above the trees which made him very nervous. “Whoa, we’re…..flying.” He spoke in amazement as he stared at the view. “You humans don’t fly much huh?” Sabrina replied as she continued flying around the forest. Robin shook his head. “Well, we have exactly have wings…..oh and thanks.”

“For what?” Sabrina asked Robin who only gave a soft smile. “For saving me twice, I guess I do need to be a little more careful huh.” Sabrina snorted at that. Comment. “You sure do flippers.” She teased him which made him giggle a little. “Oh yeah, well from what I read Dragons are the fastest flying living creatures ever lift, but im not sure whether to believed that.” Sabrina only gave a smirk. “Oh, you want me to go faster? Then why didn’t you say so? Just hold on tight.” Robin suddenly realised that the comeback he had made was a big mistake on his account. “Oh….wait, Sabrina, I didn’t mean….”. He quickly tried to explain, but Sabrina opened her wings wide and was ready to dive. Robin instantly clutched his hands onto the dragon he sat on and closed his eyes. “Here we go”. Shouted Sabrina as she dove down instantly towards the river , but instead of landing in it, she immediately flew up and across at high speed. Poor Robin was holding onto Sabrina as if his life depended on it with his eyes deeply shut. “Agh, slow down.” He tried calling to her, but the wind that rushed across him and Sabrina from the high speed made it hard for his voice to be heard. In the meantime, Sabrina was enjoying herself. “Woooooooohoooooooooooo, I never gone this fast before, why haven’t I tried it?” She asked herself. She then looked over her shoulder to see Robin clutching old of her with his eyes shut. “Robin, open your eyes, your missing all the fun.” Robin wasn’t sure whether to open is eyes or not, but he began to peek open to see how fast they were going across the river that was directly below them. Robin then began to lean a little to the side and placed his hand down into the river to see the water rush across his hand. Sabrina decided to do the same thing and seemed to enjoy the feeling as well. “You know, I think Im really beginning to get use to this flying.” Robin spoke as he sat properly up and spread his arms in the air like a bird. Sabrina smirked. “I told you you’d like it”. She told Robin who only gave a out a little laugh. “Yeah, I Gatto say, this is the most fun I had for ages.” Robin replied as he began to relax on Sabrina’s back.

Just then, the peace and quietness was disturbed by a loud bang. Once the sharp bang had gone off, a dozen birds flew out of the trees and scattered into the sky somewhere safe. “What was that?” Sabrina asked in shock. Just then, another bang went off, giving Robin the clear answer. “Hunters”. He replied quietly. Sabrina looked over her shoulder at Robin. “Whats a hunter?” She asked him. Robin gave a serious look at Sabrina. “Hunters are horrible people who like to kill all kinds of animals for a sport. Mum told me that it’s horrible to kill forest animals.”

Sabrina looked disbelieved at Robin. “But why would they do such a horrid thing like that?” She asked in an upsetting way. Robin just shook his head. “I don’t know Sabrina, some people just find it fun. And I thought hunting was forbidden in the forest.” Sabrina looked at Robin before hearing another bang. “Then we’ll just have to stop them.” She spoke with a growl. But before Robin could stop her, she was already flying down towards the forest near where the sound was heard at top speed. Once they landed, Robin hopped off and stood in front of Sabrina. “No, you’ll get shot if they see you, you’re like an animal as well.”

Sabrina stopped and looked at Robin with a little smile. “don’t worry Robin, I can just scare them away.” But once again Robin stopped her from getting past him. “No, you’ll risk your life, let me try and talk to them.”

“What if they don’t listen?” Sabrina asked back. Robin gave a sigh before answering. “Ok, fine, I’ll try and talk to them and if they don’t listen, then you can scare them away, but just be careful not to get shot, ok?” Sabrina lifted her paw onto her chest. “You have my word as a dragon.” Robin gave a little smiled before heading towards where he could hear the two mean walking.

There were two hunters who both seemed to look very opposite. One of them was short and fat while the other was tall and skinny. They both had the same hunting outfit and carried guns with them. The tall hunter was searching through the sky with the gun viewer while the short hunter was peeking through some of the bushes for any sign of small animals scurrying around.

“Come on Dennis, we’ve been here all day and not one stinkin animal has been around. Lets try another forest.” The tall hunter spoke to his companion who stopped looking and looked directly at Dennis. “Oh quit squabbling will ya. You’ve been non stop moaning all day. And we WILL find an animal to name our prize. We just have too keep looking in the right spot, eh Radley?”

Radley just shrugged and continued o search the sky. “At this rate, we’ll be here when it gets dark.” He mumbled to himself. “What was that?” Dennis immediately eyed Radley who gave a surprised look. “Oh…nothing, I was just talking to myself, that’s all.” Dennis gave Radley an eyeing look. “Well next time, talk in your head you dummy.” Dennis suddenly heard a crack of a twig snapping and immediately pointed the gun towards where the noise was only to see a young boy who immediate froze in shock as he saw the gun being pointed at him. Dennis immediately placed the gun down. “Well now….what do we have here?” He asked himself. Radley looked at Dennis and then towards the boy. “Looks like someone has lost his way into the danger zone.” He smirked and nudged his friend on the shoulder.

Robin felt nervous, but knew that he had Sabrina to back him up. He swallowed before taking a step forward. “Excuse me sir, but this forest is forbidden from hunting.” The two hunters looked at each other before snorting with laughter. Robin just stood there with an unimpressed look. “Look kid, we’re only doing our job here and it’s best that a little smarty pants like you doesn’t get in our way.” Dennis poked Robin on his shoulder, but not too hard. “Yeah kid, its non of your business and should you be at school young man?” Radley sad as he had both his hands placed on his sides.

Robin didn’t answer Radley’s question and instead just told them, “You cannot hunt in this forest, it’s against the law and you’ll be in big trouble if you don’t leave.” He spoke angrily with determination written over his face. But the hunters didn’t seem to pa any interest in his talk. “Oooh, it seems somebody wants to play the sheriff today.” Radley teased Robin who clutched his fist trying to hold his anger inside. “Look kid, we don’t care about what the law says about right or wrong. So just get lost or we’ll have to force you.” Dennis replied as he lifted up his gun and pointed it at Robin who didn’t feel scared anymore, but just felt even more angry. He knew the laws of the forest and what is right and wrong. Meanwhile, Sabrina was watching everything from behind a bush nearby and prepared herself for she knew that talking was not going to work.

But Robin felt more determined then ever to stop these two from braking the law. “No, I can’t let you kill innocent animals.” He yelled at them. Radley gave his friend a nudge. “Nature boy, eh?” Dennis just shoved him away and pointed the gun at Robin. “Well, I tried to warn you kid, but Im afraid you left me no choice, oh and I’m sure you will be meeting some of the other animals we have taken care off…in heaven.”

That was the final straw for Robin who had anger written all over his face that he didn’t notice that his hands were glowing red to everyone’s surprise. The two hunters looked stunned at his hands. “Eh…..maybe we should….”. Radley tried to start, but Dennis stood his ground with the gun still pointed at him. “You big fool, this is just one of his tricks to scare us. Nice try kid, but we aint that much fools.” Meanwhile, behind the bush, Sabrina was watching in utter shock. “Whats happening to his hands?” She asked.

Just then, the most unexpected thing happened next. Two fireballs suddenly appeared on his hands which made Dennis feel completely afraid now. “Ru…ru..ru…RUN.” Screamed Dennis as the two of them ran with their lives.

Once the two hunters were out of sight, Robin looked down at his hands too see he was holding a fireball in each hand, but didn’t feel any pain what so ever. “Wha….what’s happening to me?” He asked in shock a he kept on staring at his red glowing hands. Sabrina came out from behind the bush and looked at Robin is disbelief. “Wow. Your hands are on fire….but you never told me you could do that/”

As Robin felt himself calm down, the fire and the red glow on his hands suddenly disappeared. Robin stood and looked at his hands that were now normal in a stunned way. “I…I….I never knew. I must be dreaming.” He looked at Sabrina who tilt her head a little. “But your not dreaming Robin, Im here and you do have powers.”

Robin then place his hands on his head and shook his head. “No…this has to be a dream. I met a talking dragon and now I have powers……this just has t be a big dream.” Sabrina walked up to Robin with a concerned look on her face. “But it’s not a dream Robin, Im really hear and….you do have powers.” She told him. Robin then looked at his friend and then realised that he wasn’t dreaming after all. The two just stood and stared at each other with nothing else to say until Robin noticed the sun was beginning to set. “Oh, I better get home of Mum will be worried, can you fly me home?” He asked Sabrina who gave him a smile. “Course I can, just hop on and show me the way.”

Robin smiled and hopped on her back. Sabrina began to flap her wings and fly into the sky with the large view of the now orangey sun setting.

Chapter 3: Family matters

Melrose sat alone in the kitchen at the dinning table as it was awkwardly quiet, except for the ticking noise of the kitchen clock. She looked at the clock to see it was 8:15 pm. Robin was suppose to be back about over an hour ago and has missed his dinner time. Melrose was now getting worried. It was not like him to be so late. She had already called the sheriff of his disappearance, but so far, no report of seeing him has been heard. “Where are you Robin?” She asked worriedly.

Meanwhile, a few metres from outside of the house, Robin and Sabrina had landed where the house lights could been seen. “Im am so late.” Robin spoke worriedly. “Sorry, but its so hard to fly in the dark.” Robin hoped off the dragon’s back. “Mum is ganna kill me.“ He mumbled to himself. Sabrina gave a shock look at Robin. “She would…kill you?“ She asked in disbelief. Robin shook his head. “Well….she wouldn’t kill me, but she would get very upset.” Robin replied to her. “Then why did you say she would kill you?” The little dragon asked. Robin gave a thinking look. “Well, sometimes we just say things a little over the top. Like a metaphor, mum calls it.” Sabrina tilted her head to one side. “Never mind, I better get going…where can I meet you again?”

Sabrina thought for a moment. “Well….anywhere I guess….wait, how about I come inside with you?” She asked excitedly. Robin quickly shook his head. “Sorry, but I don’t think that’s a good idea, I don’t wanna scare her tonight.” Sabrina looked down. “Aw…but when CAN I meet her?” She asked in a desperate childish way. Robin smiled and patter her on the head. “Soon, once I find a good time for her to see you, but not now, she’s probably worried enough as it is.” He looked over to the house. Sabrina shrugged. “Well, I guess it’s goodnight then.” She looked down sadly. Robin felt his heart go out to the little dragon. “Hey, don’t be sad, we can see each other tomorrow.” He said in an encouragement way. Sabrina lifted her head up with a gleaming smile. “Promise?” She simply asked. Robin placed his hand on his chest. “Promise.”

A few minutes later, Robin walked onto the patio. He took a deep breath. “Ok, here goes.” He then opened the front door. In the kitchen, Melrose looked up to see the door open. She saw it was Robin. Melrose wasted no time standing up, rushing over to her son and hugged him. “Robin, are you alright, where have you been?” She asked as she bugged him. Robin felt guilty about this. “Im sorry mum, I….got a little lost.” He tried to apologies. Melrose then felt that her son’s clothes were all damped. She then stopped hugging her son and looked down at him. “Why are you all wet and where have you been? Do you have any idea what time it is and I’ve been worried sick out of my mind of anything happening to you. I’ve been calling the sheriff to search for you.” She raised her voice a little with a frown. Robin looked down sadly. “I’m sorry mum, I didn’t mean to worry you.” Melrose ran over to him and hugged him tightly, she didn’t care about his wet damped clothes. “Im just happy to see that you are safe. But don’t ever try and get yourself lost, alright? I don’t know what I’ll do if anything happened to you. Now go and dry yourself, I don’t want you catching a cold.”

“Ok mum.” Robin replied before he headed off into his room. Once Robin changed into his new clothes, he heard a knock coming from his bedroom door. Robin looked as it opened to reveal a tall man with short spiky hair wearing a football uniform. “DAD”. Robin then jumped into his father’s arms to reveal a hug. The man chuckled as he lifted his son off his feet. “Hey son, how’s it goin? Have you been good to your mother?” He asked his son who he had wrapped in his arm.

Robin looked up with a gleaming smile on his face. “Yep and look what I found.” Once Robin was release from his father, he ran over to his drawers and took out what looked like a small fossil of a snail shell. His father smiled. “That looks great son, where did you find that?” He asked as he took a clear glance of the stone. “I found it in the lake about a few days ago. I thought maybe you’d like it.” Robin replied with a pleasing look on his face. Ben smiled softly at his son. “Thanks son. I’ll always keep it with me.” He placed the fossil in his pocket. Just then, the sound of the phone was interrupted, but was then followed by the sound of Melrose’s voice. “Ben, it’s for you.” Robin looked down. “It’s always for you.” Ben rubbed his son’s head. “Don’t worry son, I’ll be back in a minute.” He then walked out of thre door, bu gave a wink at Robin before leaving. Robin smiled then looked down.

Once Ben was done using the phone, he placed it down with a sigh. Melrose, who was standing by, knew that something was wrong. “Something wrong Ben?” She asked. Ben looked down at the floor for a moment, taking a deep breath before turning to Melrose. “Im afraid there is Melrose. Apparently, one of our team members has had an accident and Im the only option there is to take over for the next match.” He answered her in a quiet way. Melrose gave a little concerned look. “But when is the next match?” She asked. Ben looked down with his eyes shut. “On 18th June “. Melrose was dumbfounded by this. “Oh Ben….that’s on the exact day we were suppose to go on a family trip and you know how excited he’s been about this.”

Ben nodded and looked at Melrose. “I know Melrose, but if I don’t go, then out team will be disqualified for the rest of the summer. I really do want to spend time with both of you, but my team seems to be counting on me. And some of player on the team, like me, have big dreams of playing for the big finals.” Melrose nodded . “I know what you mean Ben, but think about Robin’s dreams, one of them is spending time together, just the 3 of us. How do you think he would handle this? We cant just let him down.” She tried to explain to Ben. Ben looked at Melrose in her eyes. “Im sure Robin will be able to handle this, he is a big boy now. Look, I’ll go out with him tomorrow and talk to him. Im, sure he’ll understand.” Melrose looked down. “I’m not sure how he is going to handle this. But there is also something I’ve been thinking about lately.”

“What is it Melrose?” He asked as he softly too her hands. Melrose looked into Ben’s blue eyes. “I’ve been thinking about telling Robin.” She replied quietly. Ben gave her a confused look, before he began to realise what she meant. “About his gifted powers.” Melrose nodded. “Yes, I think that it’s time to tell him.”
Ben looked at her as he squeezed her hands but not too tightly. “I suppose so, but lets let him rest, it looks as if he’s had another big day.”

To be continued........(i know his chaper is short, but I promise that the next one will be Longer. )
